Pharmaceuticals

Simple and efficient, ensuring safe pharmaceutical logistics

Pharmaceutical logistics is not simply the purchase, sales and storage of drugs or distribution of drugs. It is about integrating resources in the full chain of channels relying on equipment, technology and information system. By optimizing the operation process of supply, sales, distribution and transportation of drugs, Damon improves order processing capabilities, and reduces time cost and errors, so as to realize digitalization and intelligentization while reducing cost and improving efficiency. At present, many pharmaceuticals are still at the stage of single supply chain optimization, and most logistics projects for drugs to be marketed are still at the stage of internal integration and process optimization. These pharmaceuticals rarely involve integration of upstream production, downstream retail, and hospitals, thus failing to eliminate repeated transportation, bullwhip effect, inventory backlog, and other phenomena, leading to a series of problems such as low supply chain efficiency and high drug distribution costs.

The way to upgrade the supply chain of the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Conveying of pharmaceutical raw and accessory materials and products.

Use a variety of light and heavy, conveying, and handling equipment to improve the circulation efficiency and reduce losses.

  • Customize Optimal Solutions

Customize solutions for automated logistics according to the characteristics of various pharmaceutical companies.

  • Commodity and Order Sorting

Core technologies and equipment performance of the system have reached the world-class advanced level.

  • Intelligent Handling Robots

Being high-speed and flexible, it reduces pollution from manual handling, lowers costs, and improves efficiency.

Business Challenges

  • Meet GSP and GMP compliance requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Low efficiency and high distribution cost at the stage of single supply chain optimization.

  • The corporate internal process integration is at a low level, making it impossible to eliminate the phenomena such as repeated transportation, bullwhip effect, and inventory backlog.

  • The coexistence of B2C and B2B poses the requirement to meet the needs of multiple parties such as pharmacies and pharmaceuticals.

  • Strict requirements for classified management and divided storage, and management of drug expiration dates.

Our Superiority

    • The fifth-generation i-G5 intelligent conveying platform, and mature technologies accumulated over many years.

    • The high-speed sorting technology meets multi-scenario and multi-party distribution needs.

    • The expandable modular design can achieve optimal solutions.

    • Support the storage and management of drugs of various shapes and characteristics.

    • Stable performance, with an extremely low error rate in sorting, conveying, and storage.

Case Study

HONGXIANG GROUP

Industry: Pharmaceuticals

Location: Kunming, Yunnan

Area: 54,400 square meters

Client Profile

Yixintang is a brand of Hongxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Founded in 1981, the company has now developed into a large joint-stock pharmaceutical enterprise group integrating planting and processing of traditional Chinese medicinal materials, R&D, production, wholesale and retail chain operations of Chinese and Western patent medicine, and the medical industry. It manages more than 10 subsidiaries, with more than 2,400 direct-sale chain pharmaceutical stores in Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Sichuan, Shanxi, Chongqing and other provinces and cities. In the future, the company will focus on the domestic market from a strategic perspective. Relying on its e-commerce businesses, it will build a marketing network integrating multiple online and offline channels

Challenges for the Project

The core requirement of Yixintang Pharmaceutical Group is based on the premise that the warehouse operation cannot be stopped during the transformation period. In order to not affect the normal sales operation of all stores and e-commerce platforms, the second phase upgrade project of the "Yixintang Pharmaceutical Group" logistics center warehouse clearly stated that "the warehouse of this project must be transformed while operating". At the same time, in order to avoid business losses of up to 10 million CNY per day caused by the shutdown of the logistics center, the entire project must be completed within 100 days, which included the SAP transformation and development, the installation and debugging of new and old software and hardware, the replacement of the old one with the new one, and putting the new one into service

Solution

For the logistics center of Yixintang Pharmaceutical Group, Damon Technology planned and designed a 1,500-meter automatic conveyor line running through the entire warehouse, 3 sets of automatic sorters with a total of 82 crossings, 160 vehicles for picking operations, 170 quasi-review stations, and an average daily cargo handling capacity of 400,000 order lines, which supported the distribution business of 2,500 stores in Yunnan and 8 logistics centers outside the province

Application Effects

The two parties implemented the mode of operations by day and testing by night to fully complete the installation and debugging of new and old software and hardware systems, and the replacement of the old one with the new one of the logistics center. The expansion requirements of the second phase were successfully met in only 100 days. After expansion and reconstruction, the total area of the Yixintang Logistics Center building reaches 544,09.6 square meters. There are four floors for the overall design after the second phase expansion, with two types of business logics, one which is mostly DPS (Digital Picking System) plus a small portion of DAS (Digital Assorting System), and one which is pure DAS, running in parallel. The center meets the logistics distribution needs of traditional business and e-commerce business at the same time
